Pine Martens are back to visiting every night again. First one in tonight was Duncan π₯°

Dogs Love Holidays land - upper and lower paddocks and woodland.

This week’s guest Cooper can be very worried by other dogs. Also, being a Labrador, water is life! So to walk on Glaslyn Nature Reserve and not see another soul and have a whole lake all to yourself to swim in was just π€©

A beautiful autumnal #hafrenforest -
just 3 minutes drive from the cottage π
My favourite season π
Bertie is very happy to return to the warm hug of Cwmbiga π€
This is Bertie’s 3rd visit. Previously he has been here in Winter and Spring and now Autumn π He has already booked a stay for Summer next year π

I think it’s fair to say @nova.therotti was happy to be back at Cwmbiga for her 3rd visit π
Thank you to everyone who booked π and apologies to this who missed out.

This weeks guests demonstrating beautifully that we do indeed allow dogs on sofas here.
I would like to point out that there are 2 large sofas, they don’t all have to squeeze onto one.
As for where the humans sit…..

This week’s guests; Sydney, Bonnie, Boomer, Freya and Flo. Enjoying Cwmbiga land, no need to even go off site. I think their faces say it all π₯°

Take a walk with Bert and I around Cwmbiga’s private land. With paddocks, woodlands, a lake and plenty of safe space to run and explore, many of our guests never even leave the property during their stay.

Had the pleasure of looking after the gorgeous Bert today π₯° He found a new toy in the dog cabin βΊοΈ

Just a few minutes drive from the cottage. A perfect place for an evening picnic with good friends, watching the sun set behind the Forest. Zero dogs seen (apart from the ones we took with us π) and a handful of fishermen on the edge of the lake. Just peace, quiet and stunning views β€οΈ

Some of you already know Jeff and Jax from previous posts. They live locally and come and use our paddocks for some off lead freedom on a Saturday when we don’t have guests.
Unfortunately their Mum has been suffering with severe back pain over recent weeks which means they haven’t been able to visit for quite a while.
However, yesterday Mum was finally able to drive them here, but unable to make it to the top paddock, so the pleasure of escorting them up there was all mine β€οΈ They had a blast π₯°

The last 2 years we’ve been lucky enough to have Barn Owls nesting in our end Barn and each year they have produced 2 Owlets. Well this year they’ve come back again and we have 3 Owlets this time β€οΈ At 9.45pm most nights for the last week we’ve been fortunate enough to watch them practice their flying skills in our driveway. They drop out of the box one by one, settle on the ground before plucking up courage to practice short flights close by. Our trap camera has caught some footage of them emerging from the nest box, including one of the parents bringing some them some dinner π #barnowlets #barnowlsofinstagram
#aberdyfibeach just 40 minutes drive from the cottage.
We were recently lucky enough to have the gorgeous Fergus stay here at Cwmbiga. Despite being a very young dog, Fergus has unfortunately experienced a great deal of pain, discomfort and major surgery in the first few years of his life due to hip issues, which has impacted significantly on his general confidence. We were therefore delighted to receive this massage from his owner’s following his stay with us β€οΈ
‘’I also wanted to thank you directly, as we’ve gone from despairing about our experience of dog ownership and how limited we’ve all been over the past two years, to being excited about our future as a trio. Fergus had the space to experience new things in safety, and his confidence in new places has improved tenfold in such a short space of time. He’s finally managing to go on walks to new places without being so stressed he can’t enjoy himself or take things in. During our stay, he walked down Aberystwyth promenade amazingly well after never walking through a town before, even managing to sit down while we had a drink. On Sunday at home, he conquered his fear of the metal kissing gates to the nearby nature reserve - something he’s struggled with since we stopped being able to carry him over them! We’re finally getting to see the dog he can be when he’s not stressed or fearful, and he’s even more amazing than he already was.
Our stay was absolutely a turning point for him - thank you so much for having such a wonderful set up and allowing dogs like Fergus the chance to flourish π’’
NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY π β€οΈ
This was our old boy Luca who we rescued from Dogs Trust when I worked there. He had been handed in by a couple who had recently separated and neither were able to keep him (π€·βοΈ). His Vet intake exam revealed he had cancer and he likely only had a few weeks to live. He couldnt cope in kennels and was extremely distressed and I had no Foster Carers that were able to take him.
Despite promising Mick when I started work at Dogs Trust that I wouldn’t bring any dogs home (we already had our 2 Huskies which were quite a handful!), I managed to convince him that he could come home and live with us so we could ensure he had a wonderful last few weeks at the end of his life instead of being put to sleep in kennels surrounded by people he didn’t know. He ended up living for another 2 years! Every morning we would wake up and Mick would say ‘still here then?’ π
Luca had no interest in other dogs and in fact could be quite reactive if any entered his personal space. Despite telling them both off the first time he met them, our 2 girls were incredible with him and he fitted in to our family perfectly π₯°. He loved everyone and everyone who met him fell in love with him too - such a sweet gentle old boy π₯°
